It is pretty important to grasp this because science tries to explain the answer to questions like why are we here and what was the history of existence. It does it with math and by observing objects. Matters of the heart are deemed unimportant. It essentially leads to a nihilistic empty world to believe solely in this. I think the question of why and what happened cannot possibly be answered without considering the spirit.

Also DO NOT underestimate mattress flame retardants. Essentially in 2006 the chemical industry lobbied legislators to require chemicals which are acknowledged to be carcinogenic inside mattresses (and we wonder why infertility is skyrocketing), they're allowed to dump extremely nasty shit like polybrominated esters in there which have a tendency to aerosolize. I've always had problems with acne on my back, and later on I started developing abscesses on my back and I didn't know why. I switched to a mattress without synthetic flame retardants and the acne almost immediately went away, the abscesses stopped and healed too. I just hope I didn't cause permanent damage to my fertility and back with the mattress.

I've published around a dozen physics papers as the primary author and I am a native speaker. The last paper I published one of the reviewers was very rude and said I should get my English checked by a native speaker and gave me a bunch of obviously non-native corrections to my English. You can't please everyone with your writing.

My advice is just to explain everything just as you understand it in your native language. No one cares about punctuation but people do get irritated with overly terse and confusing statements. I've read papers by Japanese authors on arxiv that were written great even though they were full of grammatical errors. The editor will correct things like punctuation when your paper gets accepted.

Witten (especially in the 80s) wrote very good well explained papers, if you are looking for a good native speaker model, by the way. Basically any paper you read that you think "aha, now I finally get it" is probably a good writer worth imitating.

Most of the works my colleagues compile are hard to understand, even though I, as a native in their language, should grasp easily since we think in the same tongue.
The editor I encountered were polite and helpful, and didn't shame us for our misdoings.

If you bet 2, you can either lose 2 (498) or win 2 (502). Let's say you lose 2, you're at 498. Then you bet 4, so you can either go to 502 (again) or 494. You lose, you bet 8, you can get to 502 again or drop to 486.

But, ultimately, when you do so many coin tosses, does the likelihood of you winning at least once not exponentially increase? meaning it is ultimately highly likely you get up to 502? And make a profit by continuing to do this?
