My Math teacher said the beauty of Mathematics was unlike Sciences you don't any equipment or special conditions to understand it, and you only need your consciousness. He said if you were stuck on an island for eternity, with enough time you could catch up to current Mathematics with just pen paper. Is this true, or is my teacher a retard?

My dumbass needs to perform a Wilcoxon Rank Sum Test but I'm stuck on how to split my population data into two groups(is that the right word?) I need to assign a list of cities into either Europe or Asia before I can perform the test but I'm literally too stupid to know how to even search for how to perform this. Is this creating a vector or something? Please help, thanks kindly
