Hey /sci/. I'm pretty high right now.

Humans have consciousness and sentience in a way most animals and computers don't. We can't explain to a mouse or iPhone what that's like. If an animal doesn't have sentience there's no way for them to understand they don't have it or what it is.

Could there be a level above human consciousness/sentience? I can't imagine what that would be like, but an ant could never imagine what its like to think like a human. Is the way humans are able to think and perceive their environment and themselves max level or could there be another?

What is the term, if any, for metals that don't have any spring in them but remain in the shape they're bent into? Like aluminum.

A YT video from a while ago said metals like this were called "dead metals," but Google searches didn't pull that up.

Why can't wolfram give an analytic solution to this integral?

Does pro time or mathematica give an analytic solution because I know one exists? I'm surprised it can't find an analytic solution for this but it can for this integral ? 0 to inf (arctan(1/x))2 dx after 10 seconds of just a numerical approximation, it changes from 2.17759 (approx) to ( analytic) ? * log(2).

Statistics or physics

No.13462111 ViewReplyOriginalReport
Hey fegs,

at my uni, we have to pick a side subject. I thought about taking all statistics courses math majors take and stochastics at a high level. Would that be a good addition or is it negligble/not worth the effort?

Physics offers some programming + oppurtunity to write a small study. And is a little bit easier/more interesting to me.
