Is science developing any valid cures for depression that don't entail masking the symptoms with SSRI's/SNRI's?

Like any pioneering tech we might see in the next few years with much better efficacy than meds?

Just quit my SNRI due to exhaustion, and boy is this hell. I just want to be normal

Why is radiation therapy to reduce cancer something which makes it more likely for you to develop cancer AGAIN later in life? Isn't it a little retarded to have a treatment which makes it more likely to get the same disease again?

I love machines, the way they look, how they move, the things they do, I love watching videos of all kinds of machines doing their work yet I'm not majoring in mechanical engineering but double majoring in computer science and electrical engineering. Why? Because whenever I skim mechanical engineering books related to machines and mechanisms I find them boring and the things they deal with plain and primitive, mechanical engineering without electricity and computers feels plains and boring + all things related to materials make me want to kills myself due to how boring I find them. Has anyone else felt this way regarding a major/field of study where you feel curiosity and attracted to what they study but find the material of study boring and unappealing?
