Chemistry simulations

How do we simulate the solubility of simple compounds and mixes of compounds in water and other solvents?
I believe this simple topic is still an open problem.

Why is coffee making me tired now?

No.13685839 ViewReplyOriginalReport
Coffee used to work for me. Since highschool, and evem through college.
After college, I just stopped drinking coffee but today, I had two servings and even though I feel more focused, I am mentally tired and yawning.

I am just 24 too. I usually sleep between 11-12pm and I am already sleepy.
This is unusual to me because coffee usually keeps me up at night quite easily. Yet now, I already feel like I can sleep and I didn't do a lot of manual labor today either. Is this normal?

Lab leak deboonking now needing extraordinary evidence

In light of this absolute bombshell, the lab leak deboonkers now need extraordinary evidence for their extraordinary claims.
Just what does the average midwit """think""" (I know, I really should "which subroutine gets engaged") when they are faced with such a overwhelming evidence that their darling mainstream media and officials like Fauci actively lied, and that skepticism and the fight against quasi-religious dogmatism is alive and healthy?

I'm having trouble understanding the limits of a quantum computer and the texts I read about it are way over my head and make me feel dumb. All I understand about this topic is what a quantum computer is.

Refining Iron Pyrite

No.13688401 ViewReplyOriginalReport
Is there a way to refine Iron Pyrite into either sulfuric acid or metallic iron? My main concern is that I want to know how to make metallic iron out of it, and I was wondering if the leftover sulfur can also be taken into storage as sulfuric acid. Either way, I'd like to know what kind of process I would need for both, making iron pyrite into sulfuric acid and into metallic iron, if that's even possible. Doesn't have to come from one batch. Like, have Batch A from which to make metallic iron, possibly wasting the sulfur, and Batch B from which to make sulfuric acid, leaving you with some iron byproducts to be later refined into metallic iron if possible. Is such a process complex? Is a lot of equipment required and since sulfur is a thing, can I just do things outdoors and not breathe in the fumes?

What would the outcome of pic related have been if it had happened in modern days?

It's a fictisious scenario, but has anyone truly dug in to what factors prevented all those horseman from solving the problem even with their resources / faculties combined?
