Is "hydrogen energy" a complete meme?

I've been blasted on YouTube with recommended videos showing me how hydrogen cars/buses and even PLANES are "game changers" and will "dominate" the future.

Yet, literally no country on earth is investing any sizeable amount on hydrogen fueled transport.

Is hydrogen energy a complete and utter pop-sci meme?

Firstly, nowadays, hydrogen is made using natural gas and is hence more expensive than natural gas. "Green" (water electrolysis) hydrogen is 5 to 7 times more expensive than regular hydrogen.
Secondly, people say that we could use the gas pipelines as is for hydrogen. Nope. We'd have to retrofit the pipelines with an inside liner and change all the compressor stations. Several dozen billion euros for a country like Germany.

Do until somebody serious does a system wide serious analysis of the infrastructure needed for hydrogen, I consider it a meme.

Direct carbon capture plants remove carbon from the emissions of fossil fuel power plants. Those plants do everything they can to avoid having to use them because it cuts into their profits. Direct carbon capture is claimed to remove 90% of the carbon dioxide from the emissions that pass through them, but the two case studies mentioned in the article showed an average of 55% removal over 6 months. If you include the emissions from mining and transporting the fossil fuels the figure drops to around 10%.

Direct air capture plants pull CO2 out of the air, which is much less concentrated than emissions. It takes about 9 GJ (2,500 kWh) to remove a metric ton of carbon from the air, and it's still in the form of carbon dioxide. Then you have to spend more energy if you want to turn the carbon dioxide into hydrocarbon fuel. These plants have to be powered by renewable energy or they emit more carbon than they capture, so it's more effective to offset carbon emissions through replacement of carbon emitting power plants than it is to use more energy to try to recycle the emissions. If your goal is carbon sequestration then wood for construction or biochar are much better options because they use renewable energy to sequester carbon with very little emissions and are useful end products with long lifespans.

I'm pretty sure you didn't understand the question, it wasn't the heads to tails ratio for a single flip but rather every time somebody flips heads they get another flip until they get tails, which I'm pretty sure would eventually even out to a ratio of 2:1 heads to tails

Honestly I don't know how this problem works with an infinite amount of people since there will always been an infinite amount of people who never stop flipping heads, but generally the ratio falls at about 2:1

ITT posters who have never used probability in an applied setting, i.e the real world.

Coin flips are not 50/50. Each coin is not a stochastic process. Heads-to-tails ratios are dependent on the person flipping the coin and the specific coin in question, primarily.

This word problem is shit, and anyone who tries to use probability in an abstract sense -- foolishly thinking it can be bastardized into pure mathematics -- is a dullard.

the only reason to do it on your own is if your time is being wasted by bullshit electives or if you don't have the money. Math is a rather established field so even if you're not at the "best" college, it's pretty hard for the school to fuck up the curriculum so much that it's a waste of time compared to studying on your own. If you feel like you're moving too slowly then just take more courses on the side. or take some other stuff like chemistry, physics, business, getting laid, lol

You can't have both quality and quantity simultaneously, the brain needs time to process and digest information.
alot of the time the brain spends digesting information is in the background when you are doing other things , or when you are sleeping.
your brain is subconsiciously linking ideas and concepts together. it can't do this when you are feeding it new information. you can't build depth and breadth at the same time

if you really do deep learning you won't be able to go for 10 hours straight.
for retention you are better off studying 2 hrs 5 days in a row vs 10 hrs in 1 day.
there are diminishing returns for every extra hour you study.
