I’m finishing up this semester in my Evolutionary Biology class and still don’t know how to reconcile it with my faith in God. The two feel contradictory and I don’t want them to be. How can I as a scientist believe in God when the evidence shows that organisms give rise to new ones? Any good books on this?

Not really. Math is largely learned. Goedels uncertainty theorem proves it in a sense. Since you can't just arrive at mathematical truth through a simple set of axioms it follows logically that there is logical jumps in Math.

These logical jumps can be learned. That is why you study math which build on the collectively realized jumps and why mathematical ability correlates strongly with time spent doing it.

The Math you do early on in school is more logical hence the observation that kids with high IQ are good at Math.

Never said that there is no search space or longer sequences of inferences involved in math. Just that how long they need to get before they stop being obvious is a decent predictor of general intelligence, because up to a certain level everyone can simply work through the possible execution paths in a flash to get at the right one. For me the limit was quadratics, the algebraic formula presented was distant enough from the original geometric derivations that it didn't really click until I looked into it later, and was forced to memorize a shortcut that I couldn't prove for a while.

For someone with high IQ, that moment might come much later, when doing analysis or some shit.
