How the fuck did monkeys get to South America? Do they have a common ancestor there or did they swim over from Africa?

How were humans even able to cooperate when they had no language? Hunting down a mammoth with tools probably required a ton of strategy, and they couldn't explain the battle plan to each other.

How fast did Wheatley get thrown into space?

No.14246528 ViewReplyOriginalReport
Be me. Finish portal 2 and watch wheatley get yeeted into space. I want to make a fluids simulation for this and figure out how fast he got thrown. I did a rough estimation a while ago assuming it was a free jet of air passing through the portals( which i also figured out the area of). Because of the different gravitys of earth and the moon what would be the best way to get an estimation that seems realistic? My figures show he got thrown at 907MPH and had a projectile arc of about 51 km. The moon has a gravity well that tapers off at a certain distance from it which is about 80-85 km. In my run through wheatley would smash back into the moon at 907MPH. I was able to figure out wheatley's mass by finding his volume and assumed he was as heavy as the heaviest prop in the game, weighted test cube, and found he would actually float on water. However in the end we see the space core and him locked in a binary orbit. If we know the mass of the space core and the behavior of its orbit we can very easily find wheatley's mass. We can extrapolate the orbit based on what we see in the game. So yeah thats what ive done with my engineering degree so far instead of getting a good job.

Are his books and notes any good if I want an introduction to physics or should I just read regular textbooks? I already have good enough mathematical background for all three books and his lecture notes on general relativity cosmology and statistical mechanics.

Is the universe made of logic gates? On the most fundamental level before the laws of physics and all that stuff emerges, is the most basic thing a concept of what is and isn't possible, aka a logic gate?
