I going to college soon and need to pick out a major. I am going to pursue the start-up meme, so I want to figure out which degree will be best for that. I don't really want to do computer science only, so I would want to do something more sci-related like biotech or smth. If I wanted to do biotech, should I do biology/bioinformatics, physics (and concentrate in biophysics), or biomedical engineering. I am willing to get a PhD. What are some other popular science areas for startups?
The subjects in school I like are math (i'm in calculus 2 and stats rn) and science (physics and chemistry specifically).
If I sound stupid or too idealistic, then just tell me. Thanks!

Upper div combinatorics, topological data analysis, mathematical logic, etc.. I agree that for some version of the CS canon, you don't need the math department. I'm also arguing that for any sufficiently advanced CS endeavor, especially like algorithms, you will find yourself taking graduate courses in the math department.
I should reiterate that I'm talking about graduate level here. Undergrads in CS (most stem subjects honestly) barely learn anything

In my uni (would be considered “elite” for both CS and Mathematics by fields medals and Turing awards) you could take select comp sci department classes towards your final year mathematics courses (e.g theoretical computer science, algorithmic game theory, quantum inf). So they aren’t that far apart desu

What kind of start up do you want?
I started a moving company when I was 19 and sold it a year later to go to college.
Building businesses is all about social skills, hardwork, leadership, and initiative. If all you want to do is build a company then you don't really need a degree for that.
