You're wrong to think that inflation is to decrease debt, they don't think money printing is bad, they think it's good. The government paid shills advocate 'investment' (all government spending is consumption) which pick winners and losers in the market and distort market prices in favour of government. Reducing the value of future money to payback debt is only a tangential benefit for inflationists.
