Is Astronomy of scam?

No.13338655 ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
Thousands of Astronomers make a good living by "discovering" exoplanets, yet there is no way to verify their claims

Uhm, vaccinebros? Did we get too cocky? Am I seeing this right? UK, having 2/3 of the population vaccinated, is back to December 2020 levels of cases?

AstraZeneca vs people under 60

No.13344902 ViewReplyOriginalReport
>be Ausfag
>lot of young people want to get AstraZeneca because they've been told it's the only way to end lockdowns and get out of this mess
>yes blood clots are very rare but the AstraZeneca vaccine is statistically more dangerous to a person under 40 than the virus
>recent studies have shown the AstraZeneca vaccine reduced the chance of onward virus transmission by 40–60%
>meanwhile more vulnerable people(i.e. boomers) are not getting vaccinated
can somebody please explain the logic to this

Question for medfags

No.13349167 ViewReplyOriginalReport
Suppose you were faced with a patient reporting:
>immediately after receiving Pfizer vaccine
*immediate pain at injection site
>over the next 24 hours
*severe abdominal and chest pain
*painful electrical shocks down neck and spine that forced her to walk hunched over
*extreme pain in fingers and toes that made them turn white and cold
*edema
>over the next two months
*gastroparesis
*nausea and vomiting
*erratic blood pressure and heart rate
*memory loss
*mixing up words
*brain fog
*headaches and dizziness
*fainting and bonking her head
*seizures
*verbal and motor tics
*loss of feeling from the waist down
*muscle weakness
*drastic changes in vision
*urinary retention and peepants
*irregular and heavy menstrual cycles
*had to get a nasogastric tube for feeding
I'm not a medical professional but what it really reminds me of is reports from 1918 about shell shock among troops, do you think she saw one of her mates get turned to boots and mist by a German artillery shell maybe?

Newton's first law and religion?

No.13349408 ViewReplyOriginalReport
Was Newton the devil? Meant to distract humanity from one simple fact that cannot be denied. Something that's outside the realm of creation, our universe, cannot 100% be accurately perceived by us.

Sure, we can try and guess, but ultimately, we have no idea. We have no idea what exactly is "outside" of the universe, or what created the big bang. Just a bunch of guesses.

Newton basically founded physics which founded basically modern science, which led to people disbelieving in God more and more.
Now, a huge part of people disbelieving in God is the whole manifestation of God stuff and arguing why's this and why's that, and all the spiritual stuff.

Was the o-ring excuse just cope? seems to me that wouldn't be the cause of such a disaster. More likely the challenger was destroyed by the russians.

Good educational apps for toddlers?

No.13349656 ViewReplyOriginalReport
Hello parents and educators.
My 20 month old daughter uses an app to learn the shape of letters which is quite good I think.
So I wanted to find a good app for math.
The Khan Academy app for toddlers is crap, are there any /sci/-approved educational apps for ~2 year olds, especially math?
