I'm near the end of my first year as a graduate student (in mathematics). So far things are going pretty well, but I'm always looking to make my experience better.
So I want to ask the people here who finished their graduate studies - what advice would you give to a graduate student? I'm keeping this pretty vague so that you can take this into any direction you want - studies, research, self care, hobbies... Whatever you think might be helpful in making the overall experience more pleasant.

Sup /sci/, look i'm an electrical engineering student, and for a while i've been taught calculus and shit, but in the end when i have to face a problem that has a strong mathematical aproximation needed, it seems that i don't have the tools to actually solve the problem, i think it's because i'm in a shithole 3rd world country and the initial courses are just being taught for the sake of it. Don't get me wrong, i have a strong foundation into solvig stuff, but when it comes to the actual understanding of what is going on that i have to solve this this or that way, i'm almost always clueless.

What i'm asking is, is there a book, o group of books that can get me a strong math foundations so i won't be a brainlet at math? I really wanna have a strong foundation before i go into complex calculus.

What if irrational numbers and a lot of other fundamental things are randomly generated when the universe is funded? If the repartition of matter was randomized a the start, then maybe the laws of the universe also?
Imagine another universe where pi is something like 2.495843......... A circle would mean something completely different. If we were in a simulation (I freaking love science), then a truly random number generator might generate a seed for our universes law that way?
It all seems so random.
