Can offspring have inbreeding and outbreeding depression at the same time?

No.13387498 ViewReplyOriginalReport
If parents are too genetically close, it'll likely cause inbreeding depression in offspring, too distant - outbreeding depression. But those phenomenon have a very different nature. Inbreeding depression is caused by fucked up recessive genes from both parents, whereas outbreeding depression is caused by pairings of non-complementary traits. But is it possible to have both at the same time? Lets say, siblings of mixed race origin suffering from outbreeding depression will mate, would their offspring inherit both their non-complementary traits and fucked up recessive genes? If not, why?

Opinion on grey goo being specifically manufactured to consume waste such as plastic and materials that lack biodegradability? What could go wrong? It seems like the primary fear is of the self-replicating "grey goo" nanotechnology turning on organic biomass and devouring it instead

A Mystery

No.13387182 ViewReplyOriginalReport
The staff here at the physics department of the University of Uppsala received an email out of the blue describing an idea for an experiment the person said would be worth running. It supposedly described a way to send information into the past (tachyon generation.) The individual went on to explain that it wasn't so much about accelerating the particle to beyond the speed of light but to do with knocking the mass (Higgs field) out of the neutrino and preserving a state of negative mass for long enough for the particle to run backward in time.

To everyone's surprise, the math checked out and we are preparing to run a temporal experiment for the first time. We are all a little surprised that the Americans didn't want such a groundbreaking technology to themselves but we sure are glad that you came to us. What is going on in your country? Your scientists are being kept out of University educations and your government can't afford to invest in new tech anymore? This is absolutely crazy.

Our government will probably throw a tight lid on this soon so I thought I'd reach out to our counterparts in America and ask your opinion on why someone would give away such a valuable idea.

I'm going to be a father. I hope he doesn't get my baldness. What are the odds that he gets the bald gene if most of the males in my family are balding?

What are the most powerful nootropics you've tried/have been thoroughly researched? It seems like most of what's out there is completely ineffective or so weak that you can hardly notice it. Anything noticeable builds up tolerance/addiction incredibly quickly (phenylpiracetam, phenibut, caffeine) or is heavily controlled (adderal/modafinil/any amphetamines).

Is the idea of a powerful, non addicting, non/low tolerance building nootropic a pipe dream?
