This is not a homework post, if it was I would just go to wsr. I've just been curious about this for a while.

We know that x = 3 just from our heads. But can we take this and figure out x without just knowing it?

If we can say: 4 = x-root(64)
Is it possible to find x?

Heat generation is constrained by the metabolic rate. Heat loss is constrained by surface area and the absolute zero.

You can run in a tee shirt in 0/32 degree weather and not feel cold except where there is poor circulation. But for example if you fall in cold water it will conduct heat more rapidly than your metabolic rate can create it (ignoring cold shock)

Are there any neural network tutorials out there that do not deal with finding the probability of each possible outcome from a finite list of outcomes? 3Blue1Brown's video series deals with calculating the probability of what digit the network sees, sentdex's series is about shorting cat pictures and dog pictures and giant_neural_network's series is about shorting red and blue flowers. I'm trying to make a neural network with one output value which can range from 0 to about million (you don't know the actual limit). What do?

It's the exact same thing, basically. You just use the output differently, i.e. adjust your loss function. Rather than use cross entropy loss or whatever, you could just take the difference between the predicted and expected values and square it.

Try making a neural network to predict the sin() function over a range of values. You don't really need a tutorial to do that, just enough coding skill to modify some examples.

Neural networks JUST categorize things, that is ALL they do.
You train them on a set of inputs with known outputs, and that is what what they learn. They are pretty good at categorizing things that are SIMILAR to what they have been trained on.
That is ALL they do. Give them an input and they will give you an output that will probably be correct if your input was similar to what you trained it with.

You can easily train a network to output a single value rather than classification probabilities. You can train them to approximate any function. A classifier can only ever classify, sure, but I don't see what that has to do with anything.
