Radiation from Smoke Detector?

No.13712532 ViewReplyOriginalReport
>Dad takes out smoke detector from ceiling to replace it
>Puts it on living room table
>Yell at him because he's basically using it as a plate eating and watching tv next to it
>Convince him to not keep it there
>Just found out he moved it to the floor of the pantry next to all of our food
>Keeps telling me he needs to save it in case he wants to use it for later
>about to throw it out myself
Am I overreacting?
I know the radioactive element in the detector isn't that powerful and I don't think he messed with the internals but I'm getting paranoid about him keeping it in the worst places.

They say the pressure is good during an IQ test

No.13709817 ViewReplyOriginalReport
But the times I've been I got at least one less standard deviation in the score. I have scored even in the 90s range when I was extremely nervous. Is being pressured really good as they say? It is supposed to increase the sense of alertness, but my brain works very badly when I am like this.

So let me get this straight. An induced electric field exists outside the solenoid, if we put a contour around the solenoid there would be an induced emf in it. The induced emf wouldn't depend on the shape of the contour ? So on which attributes does it depend going further from the solenoid ?
