junior year she pestered me to be her lab partner in physics, but i always brushed her off to partner up with one of my buddies, never saw her after that class

years later i was back in town for the holidays, i go out to pick up some groceries for my parents and i run into her at the store. we did that thing were you recognize an old acquaintance, do the how're you doing what're you doing etc stuff, she tells me she ended up with some guy from our high school, they got married right after graduation, they've got four kids (you wouldn't have thought it to look at her, she still had the body of a teenage athlete). i tell her i'm in grad school, doing research, etc.

then she casually says, "oh yeah, i remember you were super into physics in high school; sorry i bugged you so much back then, oh man i had the biggest crush on you, but i was too shy to come out and ask you out - sorry for being such a pest." then her phone rings, she answers it, talks briefly to (i assumed) her husband) says 'good to see you, take care' and leaves.

i felt like someone had just fucking hollowed me out with an ice cream scoop.

You mean amphetamine and alprazolam? They've been know about since the 19th century and the 60s respectively, I don't know what you expect to patent.
Don't use chemical formulas when talking about stuff in organic chemistry, it makes you look pretentious, not smart, and can lead to confusion: C17H13ClN4, for example, can also refer to liarozole, but I doubt that's what you were referring to. Even when the formula belongs to only one common drug it's a lot clearer to just use the name of that drug, or even a brand name for it.

the marginal effect of warming caused by CO2 is insignificant beyond 100 ppm. We are at ~400 ppm. Even going up to 1000 ppm would have a negligible effect on IR reabsorption. Higher CO2 could screw with plant growth and ocean pH, but it won't cause any greenhouse effect.
