(1) The Taylor series actually converges to something for |x| < some limit
(2) This limit for the series for sin(x), for cos(x), and for exp(x) is infinity

(A) But Taylor series don't always converge for all x, and don't always evaluate to the right values even when they do converge. There is a standard example of a function all of whose derivatives at 0 are zero, but isn't a constant.

A root is an identical component. The power is the most efficient connection between orthogonal roots. The concept is changes in input are diffused.

When you square something, you have two roots. Change input, you have to change the length of two roots. The output is the most efficient path across them.

An imaginary root needs another imaginary root to affect non-imaginary numbers. Think of a swinging pendulum. There are places both on the upswing or the downswing that are the same speed. You can build something like a scaffold on a swing set that uses identical pendulums, works in parallel, and use an imaginary number to show upswing or downswing.

A negative root means the value is a divot or a hole instead of an extending branch. As that value increases, the path the power must take concaves. The power is allowed to go down that divot and take a shortcut to move orthogonal instead of rising to connect them.

Lang's Basic Mathematics will work if you're smart and somewhat experienced. It has plenty of incorrect solutions and his explanations can be demanding on the reader, to use a euphemism. You need to be able to reason yourself out of the book's flaws, which can be a good exercise by itself. But if you don't already know how to study math, it may be a wrong choice.

If you want more handholding, thorough instruction and enough exercises to not only learn but gain confidence that you've mastered everything, check out Stitz and Zeager. You're not really in a hurry and it's already a college-level precalculus course, so it's a thorough review and a solid foundation for later.

Have you already gone through the material at some point and are just refreshing? Points for Lang, he's different, shorter and has some new challenges. Is your knowledge shaky and full of gaps to begin with? An argument for S-Z.
