daily reminder medicine can not and will never be able to make accurate and precise statements about anything because at the foundational level we know

*everyone reacts differently to x

meaning the best predictions they can come up with is shit like
>LD50 : lethal dose required to kill 50% of a population
this is as rigorous as muh either it happens or not. The entire field of psychiatry is a consequence you will never find out how the brain works let alone complex problems like protein folding. This field has set humanity back so much they all should be locked up. You will never have penis enlargment, anti aging, precise statements, cure for anything

disgrace of a field medicine students should be laughed at and kicked out of any serious college

Am I in?

No.14225510 ViewReplyOriginalReport
I was recently interviewed for a PhD program and I have published twice, once as first author in the USA. Every interviewer did the majority of speaking - almost as if they were trying to pitch me their university in a sale. It is my top choice university and I really want to go there.

If they have interviewed me and even told me that they hope to see me there, am I already in? I looked at their acceptance rate and out of 100 applicants they typically take no more than 30 - and according to the interview list they only interviewed about 20 other applicants (this was all virtual of course). I told them I have aspirations to pursue an MD after the PhD - which I do - and they said that they need more people like me.

Am I in? or am I deluding myself? I just feel really anxious.

My mother says I'm too smart for many things in life, and I get bored the second I get the hang of something, say for example a video game, some mmo rpg with some kind of leveling system and some cool mechanics, I would play for 1 year then I'll learn how to get to the endgame, and then I would just get very tired and bored of the game, I'll stop playing and never touch it again.
Is there a way to fix this? I never get good at anything because I never stay in one place and focus on one thing, do any of my /sci/ frens have any solution to this?

A font that was regarded as the true German script, a font on the cover of Hitler's Mein Kampf.
Many mathematicians, even still in this day, use the Fraktur font, which is associated with nazis and neo-nazis today. Lie theorists are the most guilty of this.
This is appalling and frankly unacceptable. By using this nazi font, even if unwittingly you're legitimizing nazism.
What can we do to stop this extremely insensitive practice among mathematicians?

These past two months i've constantly hearing a buzzing sound coming from my neightbouring apartment. It is a small complex and there is only three apartments and a shop on the lower floor so i know it's my neightbour.

It comes in the form of vibrations from his bedroom and it lasts all night long. It is extremely rithmic, most likely some form of machinery or electronic device.

Every 4 second there is a 2 second vibration.

I'm curious of what might be. He is kinda sporty and it's always out biking, so I don't see him much often.

Do you have any idea of what might be happening there?

I thought he might be using one of those breathing machines but a couple if times he was definitely having sex while this machine was active so I don't think that's the case anymore (yeah his bed was bumping on the other side of the wall and those times she was very pleased so some more intercourse sounds could be heard coming from his bedroom).

Seed oils - High Omega 6 diet - are bad for you

No.14227566 ViewReplyOriginalReport
I recently posted a wedite that mapped out studies that seemed to have prodiced evidence that seed oils oincide with disease (https://www.wtfhappenedin1980.com) so I'd like to share it again.

If you aren't familiar with the negative effects of seed oils then I'll give you a basic run down"

The effect they have on your cells, regarding inflammation and enzyme production/release leads to drastic and painful sunburn

They disrupt your cells. Including mitochondria

They're stored in your natural fat layer and your body has a hard time removing them - think of them as akin to plastics

They lower testosterone production in makes

- Seed oils prevent you from reforming muscle and skin due to the above: stores in your fat, is toxic like plastic, disrupts cells in your body (including mitochondria)
