I have a question about the interaction between fast rotating objects and light reflecting off them.

If a typical Buzzsaw blade (Pic related) is turn on, and a specific frequency of light waves would synchronize with its rate of rotation, would the saw appear to be "still". Can anyone elaborate as to why or why not?

Frequency is how often you pulse the light.
Duty cycle is how much of each period the signal is "on" vs "off"

Ex. 50% duty cycle means the light is on for half of each period and off for half of each period, 10% means its on for 10% of each period and off for 90% of each period.

Frequency of the light signal in this case is matched with the saw to ensure the light turns on when the saw is in the same orientation.
Duty cycle is kept low to make sure the saw is only illuminated for a small amount of its motion, making motion blur less apparent.

If you're just trying to match the teeth as >>14300839 describes, you can get away with a much higher frequency and therefore a much less noticeable flickering (f = Fsaw * Nteeth)

Hey /sci/, I graduate from undergrad next month and am looking for a new laptop. I’m doing a Medical sciences degree and hope to do some research in Cancer.
What laptop do you recommend? I want to focus on school and have no games so I am leaning towards getting a Mac for the first time. Are there any programs that I will likely end up using like geneious or alphafold that can’t be used on a Mac?
Would there be any drawbacks to studying? I think Anki can be used in Mac

Yeah this is the amphetamine hitting you, completely losing track of the time and your larger objectives is how it works and lets people do things like cram 5 chapters of a book before a midterm. In your case its leading you to overfocus inappropriately, thats not treatment but just taking the ADHD in a different direction. Depending on the pills you may be able to split them in half or just go to one a day, if you're unsure just ring up your shrink, tell them whats up and ask what would be best for lowering doseage.

It really may be as simple as needing to take it only once a day, or every other day. Everybody is different and frankly its up to you to decide if the suggest med, dosage, and interval are working or need tweaked.

if there is an average (mean) value for x in a population, that does not mean that 50% of the members of the population have more than average and 50% have less. for example, the average number of hairs on a head is 100,000. that does not necessarily mean that 50% of people have more than 100,000 hairs.

For the trinomial $ax^2+bx+c$ All you have to do is find the factors of $a*c$ that add up to $b$ and then go from there.

$4x^2 - 5x - 6$
$= 4(x^2 - \frac54 x - \frac64)$

Now just find the two that add (or subtract) to $b$
In this example, $b = -8+3$
Thus consider $4x^2-5x-6=4x^2-8x+3x-6=4x(x-2)+3(x-2)=0$
So $4x^2-5x-6=(x-2)(4x-3)=0$

Each method is doing some variation of the above. I don't understand why people are trying to complicate things.

Yeah, that's the first method shown in the video and what's normally taught. His second and third methods look like they're trying to be a more efficient algorithm, which is of course entirely pointless (if you need an algorithm, just use the quadratic formula). Probably test driven bullshit. And his fourth is just unguided guessing. And this whole topic gets way more time spent on it in schools than it really deserves. It makes me sad when people remember how to factor non-monic trinomials in the case where they factor into things with integer coefficients but don't remember completing the square. Clearly a result of disproportionate use of classroom time.
