Just saw a state program asking for a bachelor's degree and 3 years of fieldwork experience for a full time wetland ecologist position that includes managing seasonal workers...for 22 an hour. I looked it up and you can easily find retail positions paying that rate in that same state.

Who the fuck is taking these positions and why are you ruining the market for the rest of us by accepting this low ass pay? It's disgraceful. Taking these jobs allows them to continue to give garbage pay.

You don't get it. Inflated job requirements don't mean it's what they're really expecting most of the time. It's a setup for a negotiation process to put the employer in a more favorable position.
They're probably not expecting their candidates to fulfill half of those requirements (especially considering the lowballed salary), but when they apply for the job and start negotiating the pay, the employer will have an argument to lower the pay even more, because the candidate doesn't fulfill the requirements.
If you want to apply for positions like that, don't take those requirements too seriously. Although if it's a state position, the bachelor is probably a must.
