Serious academic researchers now believe that particles store information about themselves in a form that increases their mass additional to the known particle masses. This is totally ridiculous. Why does information about a particles's spin need to be written on some kind of massive "nametag" inside the particle? Does it not dawn on them that the information about the spin is stored in the...... fact that it has spin?

This logic doesn't make sense as a self-contained argument. Why do particles have to have any variables determining their properties besides the properties themselves? Why are the properties themselves not also their own information? Or in other words, why can't information about physical properties be stored as physical properties? Are you saying there needs to be an explanation for why a particle with spin continues to have spin from one moment to the next, besides that just being fundamentally "how it is"? If so, you'll need to also explain why your information variables continue to stay the same from one moment to the next. If they're "in" the particle somehow, like DNA or a nametag, that implies they're just as physical as the particle itself and thus beg the same question about where their own properties are written. If I have a set of blocks and I arrange them into a castle shape, they're now encoding some information that they didn't have when they were in a random jumble. Where is the information about the shape of my castle stored? The intuitive answer is that the blocks ARE the castle-information. Or if you're Chris Langan, the castle information is an emergent property of a block-human system, and it's stored in my brain. But you seem to be implying that stacking blocks into a castle makes the set of blocks more massive because I've added information to the blocks. That sounds retarded.

I'm guessing it is because the command is

beq $s1, $s2, 25

So 25 in this case would mean go to row $25 in the memory (or is it registry, please let me know which one) which contains the next set of instructions. Since memory is generally viewed in the word-aligned perspective meaning 4*8 bits per row, each row is essentially separated by a "increment" of 4.
Since there is an increment of 4, we'd have to 25*4 because the next step of instructions, if the conditions of the two are equal, is at row 25. We'd then have to add 4 because that just means "go to that step [at 25]"? Sometimes I'm a bit confused because that might be like 26 wouldn't it?

Presumably this is for a word-aligned architecture, i.e. the PC is always a multiple of 4, in which case the offset will be a multiple of 4, so there's no point in storing the bottom two bits in the opcode (because they'll always be zero).
