The other guy was such a terrible debater lol. I have a question.

Given an extension cord being used in an AC circuit (ie, plugged into the wall) with a rating of 15A and isolated for 300V:

Assuming you always pass 15A through the cable, will the heat produced in the extension cable be the same at 120V 15A as it is at 240V 15A

I know the power transferred by the cable increases from 1800W to 3600W, but does the heat produced change?

In my mind, it doesn't, because ohmic/joule heating is: Heat = I^2 * R where R being the resistance of the wire is a constant.

Does this make sense?

a resistor delivering 15 A generates an identical amount of heat regardless of the circuit it is powered by. a 240 V main does not mean there are 240 V over the extension cord.

I didn't trust it so hard, I am barely pulling 11A on a cable rated for 15. Thats' nearly 30% derated, which is pretty conservative desu.

Look at both images again closely, you'll notice the 500km measurement covers a different true distance in each. In the one I was talking about, the 900km one, it is impossible based on the curvature of the Earth. Here's my proof: even measuring the full diameter of a sphere, where this effect would be strongest, the surface distance is only 57% longer than the straight line distance.
