It is known within certain circles that China and Russia have far surpassed American military technology (Tic Tacs, microwave weapons, etc.) and are planning to decapitate the United States. My question is simple. Can America reverse its technological decline without fixing its dysgenic problems, in time to prevent its total physical annihilation? In other words, is America's sky-high mutational load, as referenced in the amerimutt meme, a permanent barrier to achieving any sort of military hegemony again?

Not hard at all. And the kicker is we (USA) don’t even have to do anything about China except wait.
Nothing has to be done. It was the natural order. We fed them freedom and they gorged on it. We fed them culture and they changed for us. We fed them extravagance and they lost their will to work. They sold themselves out to the all mighty dollar and now they're scrambling as companies leave their country because business is better elsewhere. They forgot to have children so the cheap labor will dry up. They don't export culture so there will be no immigrants to come in and take over as cheap labor. All that will happen is that they will grow old, their children will starve to death and the world will pretend not to notice while they desperately lash out at their neighbors in an attempt to not die. Then after all is done we will sail up to their ports and force them to spread their asses yet again so we can do it all over again and they will like it.

Science has yet to understand everything. Philosophy is a coping mechanism for dealing with what science has yet to uncover.

Not the philosophy is bad, "cope" has a negative connotation on the internet, but I don't intent it to mean that philosophy is pointless. It helps us feel better, but it does not contribute to our understanding of the universe.

Considering the factors in overhauling our entire standard of living to stop climate change, should we put more money into mitigating the effects of climate change instead?
It definitely looks cheaper and more doable than literally stopping the ongoing global industrial revolution.

Hey /sci/, my father is getting old and needs to use catheters. He's moving to a new province soon which won't cover the majority of the cost of the catheters like Alberta does (75%). When you are near a large fast moving object,you get scared because any large fast moving object is dangerous if it hits you. These topics keep coming up in various things I've been reading, and while I understand them conceptually, I'd like to actually get a genuinely scientific understanding of them. Could anyone recommend me a book that covers these? A plain old textbook is even fine, I'm just not sure where to go. Not even really sure whether these would be physics or maths books...

I would say that in medschool people are above average intelligence, but not everyone is a genius.

Not everyone gets into medchool it is a lot easier where I live to get into physics bsc than to get into medschool.

So only the smarter people get in.

At the exams the profs are very strict about everything, you have to know it well to even pass, so at medschool they push you a lot harder than elsewhere.

Medicine is an applied science which makes it harder. You have to know a lot of biology and chemistry, you have to also know physics to understand how the body works.

As for saying that it is just memorisation? By this logic you can memorise physics and pass exams.

I don't even know where this physicists are the smartest thing even comes from. Big Bang Theory or what lol?

The average science degree holder is worse at their degree than the averege md holder.

The higher and more sparse the ABM satellites are, the more powerful their interceptor rockets have to be.
Intercepting warheads is very time sensitive, and the longer it takes the less cost effective it is (IE: if you get there early you don't have to deal with decoys)
The kind of direct intercept maneuvers necessary take a lot of deltaV and increasingly more so the farther you are from the target.

Going down takes lot less energy than going UP.

Missiles launched from space are already going thousands of miles per hour in speed, with no gravity to fight against, the delta v necessary can be minimized with small maneuvers to hit a target.

Further more, with 1000km, lasers can work pretty much perfectly because no atmospheric distortions. Combine laser with small missiles and you get a near perfect system.

It's not cheap or easy to build a missile that can rapidly de-orbit, re-enter and then find and hit a fast or maneuverable target, even more so from a high energy orbit.

This runs into the same issues as the rods from God but with even more complexity.
