What is a fairly difficult but rewarding area of Math or Science I should learn about?

No.13734027 ViewReplyOriginalReport
What was something you invested time and effort into learning that you still regard as interesting and enriching?
>Include the specific course or book, if you don't mind

Maybe something computer related or something that is an aspect of a skill.

Advice on Promoting Work

No.13732404 ViewReplyOriginalReport
I'm trying to get any data analysis position and people keep saying to promote my work by posting on linkedin or creating an website. Also my boss always told that what matters in the end of the day is not the analysis and shit but the knowledge you can gain from it.

So I managed to find something original, creative, that can generate useful insight and that could be done wihout speding money or buying data from a consulting firm. I followed all the steps involved in data analysis from data collection to insights generation. I'm proud of my results with all the constraints I had and I think it would be nice to share this shit to help me get a new job.

Now the problem -- it is about brothels. I think if people know, it will do more harm than good. So I'm trying to find a way to mask and pretend it is about some other business, without sucess until now.

Any tips?

Interpreting Geological Structures

No.13733586 ViewReplyOriginalReport
Hey /sci/. I'm trying to recognize sedimentary deposition features on fossilized limestone dunes in my local beaches. This is more of a hobby of mine than for a degree, so even though I've been trying to read up on sedimentary deposition, I still have trouble seeing it on old dunes in real life.

I've got a few pics here and I was wondering if any geologists/ etc could help me identify stuff like HCS, Paleosol layers, Progradational beach sets, storm sets, etc. I've got a rough idea for some dunes that I've looked at, but I figure it'd be better to get other people's opinions on these to try and better understand how this beach area formed over the years.

Also /geology/ general I guess.

Why do people from social studies think they should be part of STEM?

No.13733794 ViewReplyOriginalReport
>be me, pharmaceutical sciences major
>GF introduces me to one of her friends at a get together
>gender studies major
>looks and smells about as you expect
>after briefly talking about my study with her she rants on about how any social study is probably a lot more difficult than mine since you need both book smarts and "emotional smarts"
wat.jpg
>decide to challenge her on it
>I get to choose one subject she takes an exam in as free credit and she chooses one for me.
>50 bucks for completing a class, 50 bucks to the other person for failing one.
easy.mp4
>she signs me up for this weird class about medical differences between genders.
>most of it was over zoom, just studied old exam questions for 2 days and got an easy pass.

now for the good part

>Make her sign up for a 4 week long preparation course in Organic Chemistry
>8 hours a week of lectures
>usually only visited by people who failed the exam previously as the recommended study time is 12 weeks and the average failure rate well above 60%
>Final hitting next week
>GF concerned since she hasn't heard from her in a while

Anyway, was thinking about picking up a new switch game or two. Any recommendations?

How hasn't the FAA shut down SpaceX at Boca Chica yet? The site is built on and surrounded by nature preserves that are home to many threatened and endangered species including the Ocelot, Gulf Coast jaguarundi, Northern aplomado falcon, Piping plover, and the many endangered sea turtles that use the beach for their nesting grounds. It clearly threatens a rich natural environment and SpaceX has already been responsible for causing a 100 acre wildfire in the area. The activities by SpaceX are devastating for the local wildlife. Also, Musk has already violated agreements it has made with regulators and the State of Texas. Common Sense Skeptic made an excellent video on this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BavKuMDed0

Now, the FAA is doing an environmental assessment for exactly this reason and invites you, the public, to comment and voice your concerns. These poor animals and critters don't have a voice and can't stand up for themselves against the desires of this raving megalomaniac billionaire. So until November 1st, you can send your complaints to SpaceXBocaChica@icf.com and hopefully get the FAA do its job and shut these motherfuckers down.

Why do people treat chemistry as a hard science ? it's literally just calculating dilutions, which most chemistry students cant even do. All papers in the field that I've been shown go something like this:
>huur diphalusphoshenes(incomprehensable inane nomenclature) dick-anenes are novel cocksniffing aggreagates that are """"""promising"""""" as future cock massagers
>We took some """""novel"""" compounds and attached a methyl group to them, measured the melting point, took IR , XRD and NMR spectras (most chemists don't even know how magnetism at quantum level works, yet they cram unnecessary NMR spectras down everyone throats)

Added to that Chemistry students are more insufferable than premeds
>I'm the one that knocks lmao
>Reductive amination is how you make meth lmao

Even more so """"chemistry"""" professors are the biggest conmen around. This is a personal anecdote but I'm rather confident that most university chemistry departments are like this. I've had the misfortune to attend a materials science conference where the pajeet professors that barely spoke even rudimentary foreigner tier of English ran fucking citing mills that had their pajeet """"peers"""" as references in to some meme magic shit that was surely made up

I'm fucking fed up, why does nobody step up and actually teach those chemistry, biology and especially biochemistry(literally took two pseudosciences and turned it in to an even bigger pseud shit) faggots a lesson.

pic related """"""chemists""" doing """"chemistry""""""
