after having read about stuff like phage therapy and those nutters who are setting up their own DIY CRISPR labs, I'm really surprised we've yet to experience some rogue, misanthropic biologist who's focused on designing viruses or bacteria to wipe out the planet. with the internet, it's not hard to be somewhat-acquainted with basic recombinant DNA techniques, and lots of necessary equipment is easily purchaseable for consumers nowadays.
realistically, it does seems feasible with relatively limited resources. so why aren't we seeing these independent bioterrorists pop up? the means are only getting simpler every day.
