I've used DMT, LSD, MDMA, Ketamine, 4-AcO-DMT, 4-HO-MET, cocaine, amphetamine, methamphetamine, methylphenidate (Ritalin), phenibut, alcohol, benzodiazepines, dihydrocodeine (opiate), pregabalin (Lyrica), Etizolam.
MDMA cannot be consistently used and struck me as dangerous desu. Inhibitions (anxiety) are only lowered significantly when paired with alcohol or taken in higher doses with amphetamine.
Benzos work but again for inhibitions only in extreme doses.
Ketamine potentially has an afterglow effect but does not itself feel pleasant. Best used days BEFORE you need to feel good. Have not used often enough to see if the mood is certainly related.
Similarly psychedelics in extreme amounts appear to cause an afterglow. On an insane amount of DMT I had a breakthrough trip and total ego death. The afterglow was strong and I thought I was well and could quit medication... However, after a few months I became slowly mentally ill again. Symptoms always return. Your brain is malfunctioning.
Unlike other treatments (aside from Lyrica which is the only substance to ever give me severe side effects in my entire life), SSRIs are consistent and alter mood in a more prolonged manner without dependency or dips...
As someone with very bad anxiety and depression, the neutralising of emotions is a good thing, as I never felt the highs of happiness anyway, so I naturally always waver between suicidal and neutral. Zoloft stabilises me so I stay closer to neutral. I am currently going through bereavment and am surprisingly okay. I could talk more in depth about why I chose Zoloft specifically, and also the effects on the brain of any mentioned substance.
