Anon with asperger’s here. I was diagnosed with it at 5 years old. The psychiatrist monitoring my situation told my mother that I was “intelligent” and that i just needed some challenges, and i was subsequently placed in regular classes. My special interest is music - I picked up the guitar when I was 9 and learned variations of folk melodies. My instructor at the time told me I was learning pretty fast. I got bored quickly, but got back into it years later - i’m mostly self taught and a lot of people tell me i’m pretty good for my age.
So I have some questions for /sci/.
How likely was it that I was misdiagnosed? What’s causing the musical ability? Is it my asperger’s or something else? Why did the psychiatrist say I was “intelligent”? How the hell could I have showed intelligence at 5?
