I am currently working on a maths with physics degree and I am thinking about upgrading my calculator (pic related).
What calculator do people here use, and would you recommend it?
Additionally, I work as a programmer, so the ability to write simple code would be nice, but not a requirement.

The trait of speed itself being a selection pressure is random. Plenty of environments don't select for speed. Dodos birds on Madagascar didn't need to run fast for instance. Virus resevoirs dont' select for motive speed. Environments where very slow sloths live don't select for speed. Nature selects nothing. I would agree with the previous Anon ITT that natural selection is a far better term than random selection, but I think that both are poor. Like I said later on in the post it's mostly an optimization thing. You have organisms in a given environment that may or may not have their genetics randomly changed each generation in a meaningful way, changes that affect their ability to survive and reproduce consistently over time in the given environment they exist in are generally preserved and proliferated. Overtime this leads to an effective selective optimization. There are many valid paths this can take that can lead to success, but it's not random insofar as the constraints mean that there are far more invalid paths and is thus reasonably predictable given a firm understanding of the starting point and the environment as it exists.

If your argument is that your drive from your house from your store is random because you can take a different path every time to get there, then that's all well and good I guess. My argument is that it is not because you're operating in a constrained set of perimeters environment and as such the paths you take are limited and the optimal paths you take are even more so and as such you could reasonably predict which paths would be taken. Another example would be to take your precious Galton Board and to remove some of the bottoms from the slats at the end. Yes, the way the marbles bounce around to get to the bottom is pseudo random, but in the end there are only a finite number of results of that bouncing that will lead to the marble sitting at the end, the rest will fall out. In the end the system is reasonably predictable in terms of it's results.

Dear /Sci/,

I am preparing a school project, however, one little important detail I can't wrap my head around. I hope a bright head can help me clarify <3.

The attached picture shows data from a sensory evaluation of 4 similar products from 4 companies.
Each coloumn is a 1-100 review by 8 unique assesors of a particular product.

Would it be right to consider the data dependent (as the different coloumns are tests of different prodcuts)?
