What is the point of scientific progress in living conditions if it is actually regressing living conditions to the point we have to leave the planet?

In the past few months, we've been discussing about the Havana Syndrome and how it only seem to affect American citizens abroad (mostly in Cuba) and how likely it is for a radiowave weapon to exist.

But now it turns out not to be real at all, as confirmed by the Pentagon? Is it possible they're lying and such a weapon exists but they're just lying about it?

I mean, thousands of Americans were affected and millions worth of damages and cushy retirements were aid out because of Havana Syndrome.

The world of competitive professional athletics is effectively a thinly disguised human selective breeding program, its no different than thoroughbred horse racing in that way.
Sports has always tried to be as scientific as possible about setting rules that will determine the best competitor in each category, but clearly the world of sports is currently at a loss when it comes to the issue of transgender athletes.

I figure since in that case, "you" could be any set of atoms in any possible iteration of any universe, since the specific atom or universe is irrelevant and only that some specific pattern arranges itself matters.

If you are the matter, not just a pattern, then I figure it has to be SPECIFIC atoms in ONE specific universe, because two identical atom arrangements aren't the same in that paradigm. Once this universe hits heat death, your atoms are stuck here forever. It wouldn't be possible for another universe to emerge where different atoms with identical properties form the same pattern.

So I'm going to phrase it like a math problem because I need help and haven't found anybody who has done this before.

I have a point in 3D space P,
and a mesh, a non-discrete set of points in 3D space, "X"
The faces of X are triangles formed by some 3 elements of X.
Every point in X has an attached 2D vector "uv." When every uv is laid out onto a 2D space called UV space.
A 2D image can be mapped onto the uv points, then the triangular faces form planes for the image to stretch across and create a "textured" object.

For any finite set X, how do I find a coordinate in UV space C such that when C is wrapped onto X, the resulting position Q is the closest point to P on any face of X?

Before I wrote it out in big-boy math words this problem didn't sound so complicated. But, after a couple days of hammering it out in code I can't find a system that works.

I have an """""approximation""""" where I loop through every element of X and find the 3 closest to P, scale their distances from P such that they sum to one, and then sum up the uv's of the elements of X, multiplying each by the scaled distance of their associated point.

In theory, I could get triangle P is closest to with existing functions in my library and then convert that triangle to a uv plane and use the first solution above. It's what I'm working out now. Progress is slow and unsure.

If I can't accurately predict with precision both the momentum and position of a single quark, can I find the position of 1 and the momentum of another and analyze the ratio of their changes?
