I've bought a ton. Most are pretty bad like others have said.
I do however recommend Hikaru Hayashi's series of "How to draw manga".
Good luck getting copies of his work in physical format in English though.

I switched from my pirated Photoshop to Medibang Paint Pro because a lot of Photoshop's advanced features just got in the way for the kind of stuff I was making, ditto for Krita. I recommend trying it out, it's free.

That's why this bothers me a bit. How can it possibly be a good decision for the long term health of the site to have it completely closed off from any outside views? This just strikes me as a really desperate move to gain new users in the short term, but lose relevance long term.

This is exactly why they do it - nothing desperate about it. They want to encourage new users, and I don't think there's anything to support that they will "lose relevance long term" from a simple login-in funneling system. Facebook has been way more restrictive towards non-users for longer than IG has even been around, and FB is doing just fine.

Yea its bullshit. I have to use 3rd party sites to check out my favorite thots insta now. I even tried to sign up and attempted to use temp emails and temp sms text sites, but they blocked me after trying and i cant get the account unlocked. I guess soon they'll want a picture ID, a copy of your social security card, your birth certificate, a blood sample, a stool sample, and some toenail clippings just to be sure. Fuck em.

Yes but I didn't mean it like that, I meant that you can realistically use Krita as your daily driver. The thing is that something like Photoshop gives you a ton of tools that make your life easier. There's always a "better" software, the issue I was clarifying is that if you have a simple workflow your program doesn't matter assuming it has a decent brush engine.

It means that they are stuck in their ways.
Think about Marc Brunet doing some digital course, talking about Gradient Maps and going like

That's just not right, both have grad maps he has no time to research newer software popping out because he's working, has personal projects and makes all these videos.

Krita existed for ages as abandonware but it resurfaced and started getting modern features, performance and fixes like 2 years ago or so, the professionals don't have time to learn new shit, they got work to do, that's the sole reason Photoshop is still used by anyone at all .

Yeah I never disputed this because that's why people use the industry standard software in the end. As you get more advanced you get into a set of specific habits and you need the software to help you get things done. One thing that CSP is great at is customization, you can set it up exactly the way you want and things like scripts are super easy.
I think Krita's major fault outside of bugginess is that it's designed by people who don't draw. It feels like a thing that was not field tested, many things act in an unfriendly way. You will inevitably move on from Krita and you'll have to get used to a new software from the ground up.
But it's a fact that if your software has a decent brush engine and the way you draw is literally layer > paint it's perfectly functional.

Very true and I absolutely agree on everything you wrote. I would love to include Krita's impasto brushes in my toolset, so I will strive to learn to use it alongside CSP. Black Ink and PaintStorm Studio are two more programs with fantastic brush possibilities, neither unfortunately has working pressure sensitivity on my computer (Surface Pro). I hope that in the future we will have a software with the stability, interface and toolset of CSP, with the addition of some of the cool stuff the others can do with their brushes. Or that all four are stable and easy to use together.
