Here's something about the calarts thing that is quite apparent yet almost never seems to be brought up: the series that seems to get hit with the flak the hardest and most often, SU, is the series that deviates from this "calarts" standard the most.
Common aspects/complaints of the calarts elaborated are noodle limbs, neon colors, extremely "shapey" designs usually with round edges, non expressive eyes, bean mouth, etc. SU has very little of this.
From a design perspective, SU is pretty much Rebecca Sugar's art style simplified for animation, and it especially shows in the episodes she boards. The designs follow certain philosophy for each character. It is surprisingly fleshy, in that characters with decidedly unrealistic builds still operate as if they were flesh and blood. Their skin, limbs, digits, etcetera are effected by pressure, impact. If a character touches their face in distress, it will show in the indents and facial structure. Eyes are expressive, ther are facial expressions beyond "silly meme face" and "normal 3 emotions." The bean mouth isn't even there most of time, almost only when characters are doing the big smile or in promotional material. The mouths are usually expressing and teeth will be drawn differently depending on the tone. There are no noodle limbs, even with characters like Pearl who are intentionally stick thin. Characters have defined elbows, biceps, thighs, fat, musculature, etc. In some scenes they appear a bit "tubey" but still with definition and joints, as opposed to something AT, GF, RS.
Funny enough the show that probably gets the least of this hate is the one most egregious...Gumball. The solid neon, the meme face pasted on, the recycled expressions, the eyes, the shapey designs. It looks like a modern ad. It only makes up for this with the "special" characters animated differently, but every character within the normal style follows it closely.

Essentially, how is this calarts, or at least particularly emblematic of calarts? I can definitely see not enjoying it, but it is a unique style with thought put into the (major) designs. It came out in 2013 too. Amphibia, Big City Greens, and Victor look like Gravity Falls fanfiction, Infinity Train looked like every girl's Tumblr webcomic. Star Vs got hit with this calarts meme too which is silly, that show looks like it could have came out in 2008. Is anything that isn't anime, pseudo anime, looney tunes, or sharp CN 90s to 2000s style "calarts?"

And here are a good amount of the characters (I did not make this tier chart). Many of them are in the normal style, and a lot of the ones that aren't are designed as if they are.

It also gives people a false sense of having done their part when in reality other far less convenient plastic bans would be required to make a dent. Kind of like buying an electric car to save the environment.

Lemongrab is probably on the same level as a human with a sword, the fish guy can't harm me while I'm not in water and is literally the size of a goldfish. Morty, depending on how angry he is and whether he can contact Rick/access his stuff, might be the biggest threat here. But none of them can hurt me if go to a time period when none of them exists, or I could just prevent their births/creation.

It's kinda funny how the Battinson movie does everything White Knight clearly wanted to do, but way better. It starts from a similar premise, that Bruce's revenge-fueled crusade isn't what Gotham really needs. But where The Batman has him realize that, and instead seek to become a symbol of hope... White Knight has him give up on his cause entirely, go to jail for decades, and let a bunch of unaccountable heavily-militarized fascist cops take over the city, in a branch of the police department literally created by the fucking Joker. Also this Batman is apparently so retarded he literally didn't notice someone had cut open his skull and stuck a microchip inside. That sort of thing tends to leave scars, and it's not like he had much else to do in prison, so I really don't know how he could have missed that.
