There are some unique cases where you can evaluate such an expression really fast. e.g. 11 ^ 69420 mod 4 =... Google fast Chinese remainder problem or RSA Encryption if you want to learn more. About where it is used and is so important.

Any proof in number theory iterating over cases of multiples of a number plus an addend can be converted to exhaustion of all the elements in modular arithmetic. Say you want to figure out which primes cannot be written as a sum of two squares.
That would be the primes that are 3 mod 4. And the proof is simple:
Squares mod 4 are either 0 or 1. You sum any two of these, and you can only get 0, 1, or 2, but no 3.
So any prime (and any integer) that is 3 mod 4 cannot be written as a sum of two squares.

The converse is also true, but is much harder.

Th problem was about sums of squares, but modular arithmetic naturally came up.

great, now how do you introduce a new menu item? Oh wait, you need to completely change the hardware, so you can't without spending a bunch of money. Specialized hardware that cooks burgers sucks. It's not that reliable and still needs people to do some of the steps. Cleaning the hardware will require people. Why even bother with robots if you still need people? Humans can do more than just cook too. Humans can clean too. Good luck getting robots to deal with messes left on purpose by shitty teenagers. They will exploit any weakness in cleaning the robot has.

I believe approximation is already possible in terms of technology that exists. There are models that handle autonomous movement and vision quite well. The robotics won't be perfect as life is, but precision is already solved.

Some radio stations have a very tiny window to which there is audible sound. Scientists claim blind tests rule biases out. They don't, they just cripple the test subject's ability to tune in to said thing or not.

I know it must be hard for nerds to realise there's more freedom to the technical World outside their gate kept knowledge than they care to realise.
