I think I understand what dreams are now. It's just the amygdala and limbic system running wild and the rest of the active brain creates hallucinations that are driven by the amygdala.

consider this.
Lets say C is a specialised evolutionary adaptation like Wings
C confers the advantage of flight
C consists of smaller adaptations like A, B, C, D
A, B, C, D individually do not confer the advantage of flight, but together the advantage is conferred as an emergent property
Then how come A, B, C, D are naturally selected when they do not individually provide evolutionary benefit?
Its worth noting that for some evolutionary changes, it may require more exponentially more individual changes than the four given whose combination are the ones which actually produce the benefit

My point is that it's been over 9000 fucking generations and we still can't run safely without doing 3 courses on how to do it properly.
If evolution was actually a smart driving force towards the optimal we would have evolved out of exploding knees a long time ago.

A lot of the traits birds utilize for flight were utilized for different reasons.
Most dinosaurs already had hollow bones which reduced their body weight and allowed them to get fuckhuge. Feathers evolved for thermoregulation and peacocking. That these two traits together allowed them to glide at small sizes was just a fluke.

It's not terribly unlikely that flying squirrels are following a similar pathway as bats did long ago. Using flaps of loose skin and light weight that originally only served to fall more gracefully, to gradually glide longer distances, until the over time the structures used for gliding might allow them to actually fly with difficulty. Later still they might develop into proper wing like structures that allow them to fly long distances with ease. Off course serious sacrifices would have to be made along the way which might prevent them from ever developing full powered flight, but it's not impossible that they might eventually get there over some millions of years.
The point is that these abilities can be really janky and niche at first, as long as the tradeoff for further development of these abilities is worthwhile the whole time. And with the right lifestyle it's always nice to be able to control a fall better, glide a little further, extend a glide a little further, fly a little easier, until at one point the cost of further development gets too steep compared to the benefits.

You are the one pretending. Injuries only happen because people are fat and run on non natural surfaces. Period. Knees are designed just fine.

This isn't a point this is just making things up. Almost all people of slim build you'd expect to see in hunter gatherer society can run just fine and only have to watch out for injuries due to artificial constraints such as hard surfaces or bad shoes.

You are making things up. Have you even run a marathon and studied these things? Some older stupid people do it barefoot on asphalt. That eventually will lead to injuries but it still proves the point even that much unnatural abuse for months of training is still possible without immediate injury.

With known physics there is no way to transmit information (and definitely mass) back in time, but you can "skip" forward in time just fine. You just need to accelerate to an extremely high speed to slow your own time.

But it's 100x easier to learn shit on your own than it is trying to keep exact pace with the professor in lectures. Online classes force them to either publish course materials online, record lectures or both, which makes picking up the subject matter trivial because there's much less chance you'll miss something or not get enough time to understand it properly.

I'm learning about the thermoelectric effect(s) from google searches and youtube videos at the moment, but I have a question that I haven't seen asked - from what I gather, the seebeck effect works by having a current develop in 2 pieces of dissimilar materials where the stronger one cancels out or overcomes the weaker one, leaving an overall smaller current. What happens when you connect both the materials in a cross instead of a loop? Do the currents add up or does something go wrong? I assume 10'000 people have already thought about this and figured it out, but I'm still learning.

Depends on the material of the black wires.

If both wires are the "stronger current" material, both loops are the same.
If both wires are the "weaker current" material, both loops are the same.
If the wires are one of each material, there's no current in the loop.
If the wires are some other material, the result would depend on that material's own Seebeck coefficient.

Or so I think.

Also, you don't require two materials for the Seebeck effect. It's just a voltage drop created by a temperature gradient in a material. The reason you typically see two materials is so that the current has a return path. If the return path were the same material, the effect in the outgoing and return paths between hot and cold regions would cancel.
