For people that don't, you're expecting them to figure that out on their own and then also do the legwork. "Figuring that out" means unlearning what the authority figures were telling you, the people that were intimidating and seemed smart and seemed like they knew what they were doing.

People talk with a monotone tone of voice and refuse to make this stuff sound interesting. They know the how but barely seem to know the "why". Your brain just turns over like a car and all you can think about is how you'd like to be doing anything else.
