Let’s say an object like a car needs 2e amounts of energy to accelerate forward a specific displacement
And another car with the same mass and acceleration move forward half the displacement of car 1 and back again with the same acceleration
Wouldn’t both objects need the same amount of energy to travel the same amount of distance?

Just sounds wrong, work is the byproduct of transferring energy and both objects are transferring the same amount of energy into moving forces even if those forces are moving in different directions at different intervals. To say one object hasn’t done any work is the same thing as saying no energy was transferred even though that’s literally wrong
Wouldn’t a better model the time define work as a displacement variable that can have positives and negatives than a scalar?

Hey Everyone,

I would like a dump of all course work for mechanical engineering to do myself. Anyone know of any torrents? I finished biology in university and now want to do engineering on the side.

Any online free courses or sites you would recommend? I know 1st year calculus and a bit of python.

Yes the singularity will happen, but robots and computers and such are not as efficient as biological tissues. The reason we use metals and silicon in these machines is because they're inferior and easy to work with compared to biological tissues.
The "singularity" will happen when genetic engineering gets to the point where we can manipulate lifeforms with high accuracy. It will be a biological thing.

Religion. Religion needs to die for a technological singularity to have a chance at possibility. As long as religion exists, arbitrary discrimination is how the game gets played, which leads to pointless conflicts, and increases the propensity for civilization ending wars; which ultimately massively reduces the probability of a technological singularity taking place.
