I dont want to make one since you almost certainly can't, but I'm curious how people in different fields would think about, or outright dismiss, going about making one.
My idea is going to sound vague and retarded because I don't know enough about quantum shit for excited states to propose whatever transitions that'd make this even possible, but here's the gist of it.
>don't use lasing
>instead, use different pressurized gasses
>one or all gasses are excited and distributed such that they form a matrix where one gas can't properly transition to its ground state, kinda similar to what little I know of lasing, but capitalizing on the matrix itself rather than the emission
>somehow have this shit retain shape and piss out of the source far enough to accomplish something
The last bit is why I think this idea wouldn't work. Have fun with this concept or my shitty idea how ever you guys like.

Let's say you have a substance that at a significant rate, when injected, causes parksinsons. Or alzheimers. Or cancer. Or a range of other terrible things.


Are we really going to pick up on all those things after a few months? A year? When would you start noticing a slowly progressing disease like parkinsons, or cancer?

The long-term safety profile, multiple signals of benefit, and wide application of ivermectin in use against COVID-19 has a massive body of literature to boot. But first, a few words on its history. Ivermectin has been around for 40+ years and between 2000–2007 alone, treated 1.75 billion people worldwide as a result of massive international donation campaigns aimed at treating a parasitic disease colloquially named “river blindness” [1]. What is most noteworthy of this achievement is not the artful international cooperation that engendered it, but the “wonder drug” properties ivermectin possesses. Ivermectin is included in both the WHO’s List of Essential Medicines and List of Essential Medicines for Children - a composite of approved drugs deemed both safe and effective. A study in 2003 detailing the safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics of ivermectin specifically in high-dose regimens in healthy adults found that, “Ivermectin was generally well tolerated, with no indication of associated CNS toxicity for doses up to 10 times the highest FDA-approved dose of 200 ?g/kg” [2]. This FDA-approved 200 ?g/kg (or .2mg/kg) dosing recommendation has long been known and used to treat ivermectin’s on-label administration, and averages to a 12mg dose in a healthy adult weighing 51-65 kg [3].

Best way to learn genomics

I have a very solid background in math and physics, and a somewhat solid background in computer science. Can someone recommend me a path to go from having taken a couple of first year bio courses to being able to read and understand genomics papers? Could be youtube, textbooks, whatever. I often see reading lists posted for math and physics. Are there equivalents for more niche subjects like genomics?

I made a dent in Rosalyn over the summer but then I had to move for a new job and it sort of fell by the wayside.
