If pi can be expressed af the ratio of a circumference to its diameter, why is it irrational? By definition, it is a fucking ratio

NSA General

Is the NSA a good place to work at? should I work there?
On the one hand, I don't like the fact that they spied on us and I don't want to be a Glowie
But on the other hand, they are the largest employer of mathematicians in the U.S. and they seem comfy to work at.
Honestly, I'm leaning towards yes but I'm curious if any anons have had any prior experience with them.
P.S. — advice is fine too, I'm not pressuring or encouraging any anons to do anything illegal

My dudes, i have to get the pfizer jab this saturday, my issue is that i drink daily 3 to 4 beers for a year in the evening, i have been cutting it down to 2 to 3 beers this week, and i wonder if there is an issue with drinking the day before the jab or should i cut it down two days before or maybe stopping today

I have stopped before with no withdrawals so withdrawal is not an issue

the Sneed/Chuck effect

!jjVySneed6 No.13416374 ViewReplyOriginalReport
Hey guys, I was looking into an interesting psychological phenomena. There are some famous experiments that seem to indicate that people can make consistent judgements about the nature of a thing just by the characteristics of it's name:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bouba/kiki_effect

>In 2001, Vilayanur S. Ramachandran and Edward Hubbard repeated Köhler's experiment using the words "kiki" and "bouba" and asked American college undergraduates and Tamil speakers in India "Which of these shapes is bouba and which is kiki?" In both groups, 95% to 98% selected the curvy shape as "bouba" and the jagged one as "kiki", suggesting that the human brain somehow attaches abstract meanings to the shapes and sounds in a consistent way.

This effect is really interesting, newer experiments show some more interesting facts:

>More recent work by Ozturk and colleagues (2013) showed that even 4-month-old infants have the same sound–shape mapping biases as adults and toddlers.

>The effect has also been shown to emerge in other contexts. For example, when words are paired with evaluative meanings (with "bouba" words associated with positive concepts and "kiki" words associated with negative concepts)

Those two words "Bouba" and "Kiki" are not unique, the phenomenon can be triggered by other terms like "takete" and "baluba" and, more importantly for our further discussion, by proper names common to us like "Molly" and "Kate".

For a further discussion on the phenomena per se https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ideasthesia.

Now, lets go to the point. Since it seems that we can make far fetched semantic judgements based on the aesthetic qualities of names alone, I decided to test if this is the case for Sneed and Chuck. Given the two characters on the initial scene of the famous Sneed's Feed and Seed segment(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeTw0c6vxO8), who would you guess is the one called Sneed and the one called Chuck?

Intelligence is like stupidity, highly intelligent is as highly intelligent does.

If someone looked at your life would they think you have the IQ you brag about having online?

Explain gravity to a dum person

No.13416835 ViewReplyOriginalReport
Why is it so weak compared to other forces? Wouldn't we all be dead if it were a little stronger or a little weaker? How could the Big Bang have occurred if gravity is a thing? Wouldn't it have kept all the matter in, or immediately after the universe would collapse into a black hole?

I finally dropped out of college today.

I simply can't waste my time anymore. I have an IQ of 104 and it's clear that this single number is everything in life.

I'm so sad because I really didn't want to drop out. Finishing college was my dream. I wanted to get a PHD in math, like my father. I seriously love school so much and I don't know what else I'd really want to do.

You might say the issue is with my work ethic. But the opposite is true. I have always worked hard, and got good high school grades/ standardized testing scores from hard work. I got into a good college and I was planning to major in math & cs.

I have only managed to get through my prerequisite college classes, with Bs and Cs.
I have never been able to actually understand any of the concepts I've tried to learn. All of the progress I've made in classes has just been memorizing what I have to do and copying it onto a test. Basically, all work ethic and no actual IQ/ understanding of the material.

When I look at the upper level classwork for my major, I realize how futile this struggle is. My method of memorizing and copying won't work anymore since those classes require independent thought.

When i sit down and study, I literally can't understand the material. It feels cruel, since I'm so close to my goals and dreams but I can't have them because of the way I was born.

Is there a scientific explanation for this?
