Microbrachius Dicki is allegedly the first organism with a dick. Fish "before" that sprayed their loads onto eggs that were laid outside the female. There would be no transitional advantage for males evolving a couple of dicks and the female evolving to hide the eggs inside her at the same time. The system is only useful once it is complete in its final form.

Why did you not quote any part of the paper that explains the evolution?... Because it explains it nowhere. That is the discussion itt, not development. Posting that paper in the first place was a starwman so I gave it very little attention after correctly identifying it gives no explanation for the alleged evolution of claspers.

I really shouldnt' have quoted this part, you seem to be hung up on it. The reason only males develop dicks is obviously irrelevant, my bad. This was the important part:

evolution "380 million years ago" =! embryo development in extant fish. It's laughable to assume there would be any relationship.
M. Dicki's claspers were different from the pelvic fin (they were solid immobile bone attached to a dermal plate, look at the 1st 2 pictures itt and read the paper I gave above that verbally states this) and thus not a "fin modification" anyway so your paper is even more fundamentally irrelevant when you look at the details because there is obviously no homologous relationship whatsoever. The claspers in your paper are cartilaginous and anchor to the pelvic fin girdle, the ones in MD are bone and anchor to something almost analogous to a crab like shell and have nothing to do with the pelvis.

I personally think it's sloppy to even call them claspers in MD since there are enormous fundamental differences but it's what the literature does.

I am taking general chemistry/organic chemistry and I frankly don't remember anything about math beyond simple arithmetic like addition, subtraction, dividing and multiplying.
First of all, what does the equation in pic rel mean? Can someone give me an example I can write down in my notebook so I can understand it?
Second, how can I get a bootcamp/crash course on essential math for college (chemistry/pharmacy) without studying shit I don't need?

I wrote a python program that takes all the text in the file and puts it into a list. The way it is now, each line is stored in the list for every index (line 1 from file is stored in index 0, line 2 from file is stored in index 1, etc.)

How do I look at individual words from each index? Is there a way to, for example, use a spellchecker that checks each word in all of the indexes (which contain the entire line, not just individual words) and returns whether the word exists?

each element of the list is a string, so as the other anon pointed out you can just use the split method to get a list with each individual word.

As for spellchecking, just look for a library. A quick google search returned this https://pypi.org/project/pyspellchecker/

theres probably others.

This is really out of touch. Vast majority of physics and maths PhDs absolutely do not have anywhere near the amount or programming experience required to get into these jobs, let alone be any good at them. Maybe a third of them could do it, but most STEM degrees are not "dude programming lmao" unless you're a total brainlet who should have just gone into programming instead of larping as a mathematician or physicist or whatever in the first place.
