Why is pre-university maths so focused on the Riemann Integral?

No.14367096 ViewReplyOriginalReport
Measure theory is arguably a lot more useful in modern applications and is completely left out in the average person's education.

Does IQ Correlate With Empathy?

No.14361915 ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
Do you think that high IQ people are drawn to the medical field because smart individuals have an innate desire to help others not as mentally fortunate?
Just think about it
>Doctors are some of the smartest people alive
>Doctors are driven by their selfless desire to help others
>Doctors are have a unique talent for diagnosing and solving other people’s problems
Doctor’s are irrefutable proof that high IQ individuals experience greater empathy than the average person.

Existential crisis

No.14361833 ViewReplyOriginalReport
Just watched some anime about science and i thought,"what is a dot?"
A dot is a dimension in math, but i have never seen one, neither did you,u have seen spheres or cylinders that are meant to represent the dot,but it doesnt exist, how small we get the less the dots is a dot,it is just spheres made of spheres, but the real dot in reality doesnt exist neither does the line, because it is an infinity of dots, neither doesnt a 3D object then,as it is an infinity of lines.
But then what are the representations we find in math if not just conveniences for people to quantify reality?
Is a dot an existence?is it a concept?,could we say that a dot is zero?,but then everything is a zero, then what is a dot?,is it a one?,but a one doesnt mean the same thing, when we say one we mean one big infinity of smaller ones, made of infinity of even smaller ones and so forth, untill the reality becomes a concept.
But then the question becomes ,what is a zero?,a zero is less than a dot it is said, but the dot is a concept, and zero is less than a concept. We can prove our concept, and zero is less than that, then what is it?ignorance?,the limit at which we dont exist?,but then when do we exist?
We are scientifically made of "dots" which are made of smaller and smaller dots, but at which point does that dot cease to exist?,when does one even begin to exist? Are we just a multitude of concepts?even the concept of concepts if a multitude of concepts born out of nothing, yet something in our sense of interpreting existence.
A dot is not zero, but we cant say it is one,as one has many means, but no root to it,then if we are made of ones are we just an interpretation?,are we real and not in a sense?what made the sense be a sense?,what made made be made?
In the end,at which point does time interfere with the state of matter?,can time make dots appear and disappear?,can time make lines change lengths?,what does this make time?
I reached the limit, but this is it or is it?what is it really?

Pseudoscience and disinformation in the context of sex and gender

No.14366882 ViewReplyOriginalReport
Why is there so much pseudoscience and misinformation concerning gender and gender roles, and how can we more effectively communicate biological and psychological ideas in a manner that will effectively combat bigotry and misinformation?
