What really bothers me is how much anti-smoking campaigns promote chemophobia. Posters like this one have been in millions of schools and doctor's offices for forty years. It's also hammered into kids in health classes.

People are scared of vaccines, water fluoridation, and go on dangerously restrictive diets because they're applying the same idiotic logic used to scare them away from smoking to everything else. When someone thinks tap water is dangerous because fluoride is toxic doctors tell them they're wrong and explain how toxicity is dose dependent. Nobody wants to look like a tobacco industry shill and call out anti-smoking campaigns for the same nonsense.

The standard model is wrong because it requires that neutrinos only have left-helicity. The 2015 Nobel went to people who showed that neutrinos oscillate flavor. By a not too complicated mechanism, flavor oscillation means neutrinos can also have right-helicity. This result requires lepton non-universality and makes the standard model wrong, but that is nothing new since it was already known to be wrong for a long time by the time the 2015 Nobel was awarded.
