Hello python programmers, as a c++ programmer I'm only familiar with console programming, adding gui with qt, and basic 2d game programming. I'm new to python and its numpy, scipy, matplotlib, and the ebooks of them on google are so long around 2000+ pages each and I don't know what they are for. What do sci or math programmers do with those?

With the money this will cost, they could find the cure for cancer, fix global warming, find a vaccine that worked on all viruses, find a cure for HIV, find a way to cheaply produce food in 3rd world countries that would fix famines, etc
And instead they're using the money in crashing particles together? What a waste, why should I care about how many quarks a neutron has?
