How bad is it for the environment and all living species, realistically speaking?
On a log scale, where:
>1 is something completely negligible
>10 is the destruction of 5000 acres of forest, >100 is Chernobyl
>1000 is the event that caused Chicxulub's crater

Dodecahedron problem

No.14372292 ViewReplyOriginalReport
I have the identity formula for the dodecahedron problem but my tex window was closed before I could finish the proof.

The proof of the identity is left for the readers as an exercise

Inverse Functions

No.14371417 ViewReplyOriginalReport
It seems as though there exists an inverse function for every function there is. Some people say the inverse function of a non-injective is useless, but you could set f(a) equal to f(b), and find all the instances when f(a) equals f(b), and use that to figure out all the possible x values for a particular y value. For example, the inverse function of x^2 is sqrt(x). If you set f(a) equal to f(b), you find that a can be equal to either b or -b, and vice-versa. Tell me if I'm wrong.

Stop making circlejerk IQ threads

No.14363715 ViewReplyOriginalReport
Why is IQ useful? Why does it represent more than just a score on a test? Because it correlates quite well with certain aspects of life, mostly academic (GPA etc) and financial (income etc), as well as being reasonably effective in testing for retardation. If IQ didn't correlate so well with any of these things, then it would be less relevant as a statistic. Given that the correlation of IQ with academic performance and career success is far worse towards the higher end, it is not really worth noting or comparing your scores so long as they are around 2SD or higher.
