>tfw my wife is mad at me because I was bragging about my genius IQ at the dinner table
Scientifically speaking, does high IQ make it really harder to socialize with midwits?

smartest guys

Witten is so smart, like inexplicably smart. he’s been called a “Martian” for his super-human abilities. seriously.

i realize his dad was a physics prof and so forth but still… how can someone be so fucking smart? like i hoped all humans would be in the same gaussian distribution and the chances of Witten being alive today would be negligible; but lo and behold, there he is to make us all look like retards.

should i just give up?

so i had this idea pop into my head:
if you tether an iceberg and tie it to the seabed with a pully... bear with me now! (polar bear?)
as the tide changes the pully rotates a generator
i read icebergs can have a displacement of around 200000 tones. this may be way off, i cant verify.
in the arctic circle tides go up and down about 3m twice a day to total travel is 12m
thats just vertical, tides also drift a long way. we ignore that for now, happy that it wont drift in front of a boat.
so if 200k tons force is applied over 12m per day, have i fixed the energy crisis?
why dont they apply this to massive ships that often sit for weeks at anchor waiting to unload? they can displace up to 600000 tons. even when sitting at port they are burning several tons of fuel per day just to keep the 'lights on'

Westen "Science!" now unable to distinguish between corona and flu

No.14186570 ViewReplyOriginalReport
All viruses are the coronavirus, according to western "Science!" zealots. It counted all illnesses by any type of virus as a corona case for several years, showing a complete absence of these other viruses in stats.

Now that's Science! Doing a big ole Sciencing! with our "I love Science!" tshirts on for Science!

Great job, Science!

Is Physics just a tier above Philosophy?

As an undergrad Physics student I have no idea what I am doing except when there is Mathematics involved.
But when Computer Science is involved it gets even better cuz I have a set of instructions that the computer understands and if I make mistakes my code just won't work.
Why is Physics so glorified?
Quarks, QM, QCD, String Theory, ...
What is the purpose of this made up stuff?
It gets so made up what you cannot disprove it while on the other hand Computer Science is the epitome or rigour.
