If you don't want to join (or can't join) why not just leave them alone? Why does the mere existence of Mensa make /sci/ seethe so much? Please be specific and not generic "they're elitist" or "they're insecure". That describes lots of people. What specifically is it that Mensa does that impacts your life personally? Or they sending puzzle squads around to your homes to force you to play brain teasers?

Amongst scrying Harolds sources, it became clear to me how closely intertwined the electromagnetic field is with notion of the spatial field. Sure, you just shrunk or bent a region of space, but what is ones hypothesis on what occured to the total charge of that space. Did it disappear, leaving the total charge density constant, did it compress, increasing the charge density of space, increasing its relativistic mass, increasing its relativistic B and E? changing your field? anyways, the demand to dive into these electro emag edge cases was critical. The first Runner up being the Bohm Ahoronov effect

The nature of the Magnetic vector potential (that A field that one can swap in as a mathematical convenience instead of B) and its critical role in the longitudinal wave, is gauged away.

This was quite an interesting paradox for me, why would such a physical phenomena, one, be hidden being with the B field, two, be sold as a mere mathematical convenience to me in my education, clearly this thing matters.

The answer lay in, a chemistry that was not covered in my undergrad, the Bohm-Aharonov effect, and within it lays out an interest principle that i believe is still a cause for debate, the primacy of the potentials that psi and A are more 'real' than E and B

im quite sympathetic to his argument, if, by conditioning the media around you, meaning the permittivity and permeability of space, (which of course, influences speed of light) one can make it so that light doesn't hit you, or rather, light delays hitting you to the surroundings, is things like gravity also delayed? Does this not count as de facto anti gravity?

Anyways, amongst his sources was yet another overlapping inquery, a branch of physics, perhaps a tad more arcane, called non linear optics. Whose very nature is to deal with asymmetric medium. Specifically, in certian processes of optical phase conjugation, whereby a mirror reflects the time-reversed wave back where it was sent from, is performed by the mirror crystal conjugating a small amount of transverse light into its longitudinal wave form before reflecting back out its time reversed wave form.

I think central to the idea of warp are seeded in phenomena such as these,

Going to second this CS majors even without the normies flooding it for an easy job are the most stunted because they're barely a "science" and they arent forced to do actual math half of the time so a lot of them coast by and the only serious ones are the ones actually building things in their offtime or working in other subjects. I majored in CS for like 2 semesters specifically so I can build my grades back up while I improve my math and physics on the side on my own time or in electives. Most of the others did nothing

I switched from EE to CS and my GPA skyrocketed within 2 semesters. Even my math minor was tougher than CS because I had to take classes like real analysis which require very long rigorous proofs unlike the short simple proofs you see in an algorithms class.

Also, in my EE classes I felt like one of the dumbest students while in my CS classes I felt like I'm the smartest.

I disagree with Uncle Ted there. A computer isn't going to give you meaningful, beautiful proofs. It will only spout out technical truths that you'll have to reverse-engineer and re-prove in order to learn anything.

The only way to get around this is to have the computer think like a human. And by that point, computers will have replaced a lot more than just mathematicians.

Data science isn't that bad. Personally, it's all about the problem. If you're working on models for selling dog food it's boring, but if you're doing something half worthwhile with some complex relationships that you're actually interested in, then it's fun. Too many data 'scientists' detach themselves from problems which is really what you shouldn't do.

If you don't like it though, go for one of the other applied math fields. Some find Operations Research more interesting, although it's a different flavor of organizational math. Others find modeling like water flow to be pretty interesting (although you're almost stepping into engineering). Some find doing quant/finance/stock work to be interesting (personally I find it to be pretty cool, very complex systems).

You have to enjoy applied problems though, and the joy of applied problems comes with thinking what you can do with a solution after you have it. Actually pushing through to the solution is a bit boring.

Also, if you really hate it, go back to school part-time, pick up a masters in a subject you like. Make yourself so specialized that you can just kind of waltz into academia when you want.
