Is brain damage due to not enough sleep time real? I've spent the last 7 months or so sleeping an average of 5 hours each night when I used to sleep 7 hours. I once got addicted to anxiolytics and I'm trying by all means not to go back to that but I'm starting to get pretty scared about long term effects on the brain and that makes me sleep even less.
Should I worry or not?
Yes, I've tried almost every sleep hygiene tip and melatonin. Hasn't worked yet.

>>14291163 No. You can go days without sleep and the worst that is likely to happen is suffering a heart attack or passing out somewhere less than ideal

When I read about the current "research" or "discoveries" in Physics, they all seem to be too fantastical and sci-fi sounding (ESPECIALLY anything related to astrophysics). I don't know if I'm just a stupid ignoramus (the most probable case anyway) or is it actually bullshit for the masses (given the whole scientism that's being pushed as the new religion).
What do you think?

or things that are out of your control?
I had a pathology exam a couple days ago (I'm a medical student) and I got 2-4 qs wrong, I won a scholarship and prizes last year so I have to be at the top and continue my legacy as number 1, but now it might be compromised.
I was talking to this guy after the exam and he got both of those questions right, the ones I fucked up. How do I cope with this?
I've been thinking nonstop about this failure I can't stop wtf is wrong with me? I want to win the pathology medal, might have to ace the upcoming exams but what if he does the same? I've only lost 4 marks out of 200 so far, maybe 5.

What is a good book(s) that interact e.g. measure, Lp spaces, distributions, Fourier, and all that stuff to form a rigorous foundation for statistics?
