Any IQ-locked communities?

No.14417712 ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
Hello, I'm curious as to whether there are any IQ-locked communities, where you need to submit your own personal records of high-validity professionally administered tests and verification as proof to enter. I'm not talking about Mensa etc., I'm talking about something exclusively online, preferably of and for younger people, where you don't need to pay an insanely large fees to be a member, hopefully no fees at all. I'm looking for a cut-off of either 130 or 140.

Da Bat viRUS

No.14423485 ViewReplyOriginalReport
Producing a virus that could "target russian genes" spread by bats
Heard someone mention this as some sort of reason for WHATEVER is happening in Ukraine, dont really care, not putting up a bumper sticker, but I will get the cheap donate4cheap software/games. I dont really care about the logistics but I've been working on a transgene vectors for insects and thought what would actually be required to make this work.

I'm going to split this up into 3 main parts, then summerize here up to the text limit, finding relevant pictures to expand on each part. More than surface-level, but I'm not actually going to construct an insert, find primers nor check if the insert would logistically fit within the vector.
>insert tech, "alter russian genes" and how to drive that
>vector tech, what sort of viruses can insert into a human's germline while also infect bats via fluids
>genedrive tech, how to keep the insert within a human and "drive" it to all their chromasomes/sperm

The insert:
I'm thinking CRISPR or some sort of antisense RNA to block specific genes, although maybe replacing the genes by some sort of recombination without any additional inserts to replace (boohoo sterile purebloods). There's also that suicide gene monsanto was using to prevent cross-pollination, kill off any gametes that contain the gene of interest, I think mosquito biotech is working on that + GD.

The vector:
Not a Cwordvirus, but something that can transfect the sperm/egg cells. I think papilloma viruses do this, and tech is going in the right direction to modify the capsid proteins in simulation to bind ONLY to specific receptors (also present an albumin domain to get in the ovaries).
Infecting between bats and humans, IDK. Also needs to be targeted to avoid unnecessary mutation

The genedrive:
in addition to the insert, it needs to be able to work like a transposon and fight to get the gene on every chromatid after crossing over. Another thing that's been done in insects that could be adapted.

The Gell-Mann amnesia effect

No.14423477 ViewReplyOriginalReport
Wikipedia has deleted it's page on the Gell-Mann amnesia effect and redirected it to the Michael Crichton page.
Does anyone here have personal experience with the Gell-Mann amnesia effect? If so plz share your stories

>Briefly stated, the Gell-Mann Amnesia effect is as follows. You open the newspaper to an article on some subject you know well. … You read the article and see the journalist has absolutely no understanding of either the facts or the issues. …
>You read with exasperation or amusement the multiple errors in a story, and then turn the page to national or international affairs, and read as if the rest of the newspaper was somehow more accurate about Palestine than the baloney you just read. You turn the page, and forget what you know. …
>In ordinary life, if somebody consistently exaggerates or lies to you, you soon discount everything they say. … But when it comes to the media, we believe against evidence that it is probably worth our time to read other parts of the paper. … The only possible explanation for our behavior is amnesia.
