Had an idea for an invention, but I have zero understanding of technology and physics of light, so I need to know if this will work before I carry this forward.
Basically, it would be a spinning black sphere with ridges, attached to a pole. The black sphere would be designed to absorb all the light in the area which would get trapped inside the ridges. The spinning would make sure the maximum amount of light is being exposed to all sides at all times. You would put it in your yard, and it would be like a "Reverse flashlight" where all the light around you would be absorbed into the sphere, resulting in the creation of a natural shade. Perfect for a cool summer day.
Can anyone tell me if this makes sense or if there is anything that could be done to improve it before it can work like I posted?

You're describing I guess what could be described as a baffle, but instead of sound it's for light. Where does this heat energy go?

If Nukes exist then why has no private group managed to make them yet?
name one other technology that has been monopolized by the government.

I don’t like the idea of aliens existing since I prefer the idea of humans being the only species on Earth. What’s the chances they are real and if they are how can we kill them all?

I am taking an online summer class right now. I have not said a single word to the professor or any of my classmates. All the lectures are pre-recorded. There is no group discussion. Despite that, I have gotten perfect scores on all the homework plus extra credit. It's an easy Computer class focusing on SQL. Gonna take the final tonight. It'd be nice to have talked to my classmates, but I'd feel like a creeper emailing them out of the blue.
