What is the point of an IQ score when virtually anyone could just learn how to take them better and get a high score? Wouldn't it be more productive to just see whether or not someone has a learning/mental disability? >t. scored 104 on an online IQ test but am not super retarded
> Von Neumann entered government service primarily because he felt that, if freedom and civilization were to survive, it would have to be because the United States would triumph over totalitarianism from Nazism, Fascism and Soviet Communism. During a Senate committee hearing he described his political ideology as "violently anti-communist, and much more militaristic than the norm". He was quoted in 1950 remarking, "If you say why not bomb [the Soviets] tomorrow, I say, why not today? If you say today at five o'clock, I say why not one o'clock?"
Is there a middle-ground between dense, myopic academic journals and vapid pop-science?
I'm interested in keeping up with the news in genetic engineering, robotics, and AI. I perused a few academic journals but they were too dense and low-level for my taste.
Where could I get a higher-level digest?
There is nothing wrong with buying a negative expected value lottery ticket for the same reason that there's nothing wrong with buying negative expected value insurance.

Diamond body armor.
Scientifically it's impossible to broke a diamond unless you hit it with another diamond right? Why don't they make diamond sheets of armor, and then put it in between a vest or something so it's a diamond bullet proof vest.
The only way to kill the person would be to shoot them with diamond bullets, and since diamonds are hard to find, it wouldn't be cost effective to make diamond bullets for a whole army.
