Just what is a gene?

No.13390255 ViewReplyOriginalReport
Am I right to think that gene is just set/group of alleles that is formed judging from the product of these alleles?

And allele being the section of DNA that codes for specific product.

For example, we have phenotypic product - hair color. There are alleles responsible for hair color. And therefore we group these alleles into set called “gene X” based on the premise of them being responsible for product “hair color”.

In other words reasoning goes as follows: alleles responsible for hair color are to be grouped in set called “gene X”

Correct me please, I think I am somewhere wrong in my reasoning.

I tried posting this on /an/ and they 404d me. They also said to stop smoking meth. I don't do any drugs except for beer.

What sort of bug would be hard to see and would bump into people's faces? I've been doing some googling, and the only one I can think of are eye gnats, springtails, spittlebugs, and fleas. Those are all bugs that can be very small.

I have a problem. For the last 10 days, I've been feeling something bump into my body, usually my eyes, nose, mouth, or ears, but sometimes my torso if I have my shirt off. Whatever it is, it's moving too fast and it's too small for me to see. About half of the time that it bumps into me, it leaves a small amount of water behind on my skin. It's not in the shape of a droplet, so you can't see it, but it's a substantial amount of water, enough for you to easily feel if you touch it with one of your fingers.

Is there a bug that would do something like this? Would it be a flying bug like a gnat, or a jumping bug like a springtail?
Or should I see a dermatologist?
