"winning" life through genetic engineering

No.13395296 ViewReplyOriginalReport
Perhaps I'm ill informed on this but how come no one talks about applying the idea of a technological singularity to humans though genetic engineering? We already have the tools to make rather significant changes to dna, we aren't there yet completely but we can already make small changes to the human body with gene therapy, and if this trend continues, soon we should be able to improve our very minds, technically we have already passed this "singularity" since we are intelligent organisms that are smart enough to change ourselves, it's just gonna take us some time to implement this process of improving our brains due to how long it takes each new generation of bright minds to mature and pick up the reigns after the last unlike an ai which is virtually immortal, but once we make even a small change shouldn't it just snowball from there the same way an ai who learns to improve itself would?

How To Learn Chem Outside of University

No.13394435 ViewReplyOriginalReport
I just graduated highschool and was about to go to UofT to study chemistry, but I ditched that idea because I realized that Universities are a waste of time.

Instead I'm thinking of immediately trying to apply for entry level positions at certain chemical companies instead of wasting atleast 4 years of my life. Which textbooks should I use to learn Chem bymyself so that I can be on the same playing field as those who went to Uni? I'm thinking textbooks from General Chem, Physical Chem, and Organic Chem, to cover all bases.

Any help/guidance on how I should build my resume just getting out of highschool with 0 work experience would also be appreciated.

Why do normies love le epic astrophysics so much?
I can't think of a more useless field to be honest, it's all just speculation and most of the ideas will turn out to be completely wrong a few decades down the line.
Of course you always run this risk in science to some degree but not on such a scale.

I see some occasional whining on here about taking computer science instead of computer engineering, taking physics instead of math, taking math instead of physics, taking some wank like geology or meteorology instead of something more hardcore, yada yada.
I just want to get it out there that I have a bachelor's degree in criminology. How the fuck do you think I feel?
Count your blessings.

Can /sci/ crack this code?

No.13397514 ViewReplyOriginalReport
What does this image mean? It was posted without explanation after months of silence.

So a podcast host (Mike David of Redbarradio/Scarsclub) has a life threatening illness and recently has been out of commission for almost three months, even though he does 8 hour shows twice a week normally.

He has said before if his illness kills him (which it will) he would just let the site go down and we'd have to figure it out.

He has a wife Jules Felker and a web developer Cameron Malek, who run his site and may have posted this image.

What does this code mean? Is it passwords to his site to let people trash it all on the way out? An encoded message? Bitcoin wallet?

The Venus Body Type

No.13390535 ViewReplyOriginalReport
>hourglass
>muscles
>tall

Given that there is a "demand" for this body type, why is it so rare? Most women I see are skinny or skinnyfat.
My hypotheses are:
1. It's just a niche coomer thing and not actually that popular
2. There's no selective pressure because guys aren't picky and women don't do the fighting
3. Biology prevents it (testosterone needed for big muscles is canceled out by the estrogen needed for big tits and ass)
4. Big tits, ass and muscles is actually a downside
5. >>13390001

What do you guys think?
